How to Use Soft Sales Approaches that Actually Work
Many people say, “I don’t like to sell.”, “I’m not a salesperson.”, etc. What many of them really mean is, “I don’t want to be a high pressure salesperson that twists people’s arms!” If that is what you are thinking then I don’t blame you at all and the truth is that bending people’s arms to get them to do what they already want to do is just not necessary!
What Is Soft Selling?
Soft selling basically means that you are more focused on building a relationship and sharing your belief and confidence in what it is that you have to offer. It is as simple as that.
Use These 5 Tips to Rock Soft Selling:
- Network with everyone – You never know who would be a great referral partner even if they are outside of your defined target market!
- Make it emotional – Tell stories to your clients and connect with their emotions. As humans, we are not logical. We are definitely emotional!
- Be gentle – When you make a call to action, don’t go for the jugular. Make it very subtle so they do not feel pressured.
- Joint venture – Even if you are not sure there will be a “pay out” partner up with great people to learn and grow more.
- Be a Go Giver – Share lots of great value to your audience so they know you “know your stuff”.
If you are one of the people that says that they hate sales then you will see very quickly that what I wrote above is most likely not what you think about when you think about sales. If you were able to do sales in this manner, would it make you feel more comfortable?
Try some of these techniques and see what results you get. Feel free to leave some of your experiences in the comments as I always love hearing from you.
